Abstract

For the past two years, Indonesia was facing the same problem as many other countries throughout the globe which is called coronavirus. The Minister of Education and Culture suggested that all parties ensure that learning continues for those who live in yellow, orange, and red zones, to continue the home-based learning policy. During home-based learning, online learning is widely used as a media to supports education. In conducting online learning, Google Classroom is considered one of the best platforms out there for enhancing teachers' workflow. This study analyses the students and the teacher’s perceptions of using Google Classroom as a virtual classroom. The objective of this study is to find out the students and the teacher’s perceptions of using Google Classroom as a virtual classroom. The participants were the 29 twelfth-grade Natural Science students and Mrs. Melati (pseudonym) as their English teacher at SMA Unggulan Nurul Islami Semarang. The instruments were observation, questionnaire, and interview. The findings were presented into three parts; they are ease of access, usefulness, and feeling when using Google classroom in teaching and learning process. Based on the findings, Mrs. Melati and the students feel Google classroom is useful and they satisfied with Google classroom as an online tool in teaching and learning process. It can be concluded that Google Classroom is a good medium as the learning tool in teaching and learning process
