Abstract

The accumulated disaster of earthquakes in Indonesia was 71,628 within a period of 11 years of observation from 2009 to 2019. As well as low public awareness of natural disasters. Children are the group most likely to be affected by natural disasters. Thus the need for earthquake disaster mitigation, especially at an early age. The Covid-19 pandemic has hampered educational activities for earthquake disaster mitigation. Therefore, the need for learning media that can support to provide online learning or distance learning. The purpose of this research is to develop EMITVEL media as a learning medium for earthquake disaster mitigation in elementary schools and to determine the effectiveness of the EMITVEL application media as a learning medium for earthquake disaster mitigation in elementary schools. This study uses a simple experimental research by adopting Research And Development (R & D) with research steps identification of potential and problems, data collection, product design, product validation, design revision and small-scale trials. The results of the feasibility assessment of the EMITVEL application by media experts get a sufficient category with details of 65% software engineering aspects, 61% learning design aspects and 64% visual communication aspects. While the teacher's assessment has a decent category with details, namely aspects of software engineering 69%, aspects of learning 66%, and aspects of visual communication 69%. This means that emiTVEL media is suitable as a learning media for earthquake disaster mitigation in elementary schools. And EMITVEL media has a high level of effectiveness in learning earthquake disaster mitigation in elementary schools with an average N-Gain value of 0.84933. From the results of the research above, the things suggested by the researcher are (1) the EMITVEL application can be used during distance learning or face-to-face learning. and (2) in conducting distance learning using EMITVEL, the teacher should explain the procedure for using the EMITVEL application first.
