Abstract
Local historical sources that exist around the student's environment can be used as a source of learning history. One of the local historical events that occurred in Ambarawa is the history of Palagan Ambarawa. Teaching materials in the form of textbooks used by students as a source of learning history do not explain the historical events of Palagan Ambarawa in detail. The formulation of the problem in this research are: (1) How isthe material that has been used in history learning activities in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Ambarawa?, (2) How is the material according to the needs of learning history in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Ambarawa?. Meanwhile, the objectives of this research are: (1) To find out the material used in history learning activities in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Ambarawa, and (2) To find out the material that is in accordance with the needs of learning history in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Ambarawa. The theoretical benefit of this research is to add to the treasures of research on the development of local history teaching materials. While the practical benefits are helping teachers deliver local history material on the Palagan Ambarawa event, helping students understand historical events in their area, and being a research contribution on the development of local history teaching materials. This research uses Research and Development (R&D) research methods. The research method in this study uses basic research methods (basic research). This is because the product produced in this study is a product in the form of teaching materials that are still hypothetical. The steps in this research are: (1) Potential and Problems, (2) Gathering Information, and (3) Product Design. The results of this study explain that the teaching materials used in history learning activities in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Ambarawa are textbooks. The textbook used by these students has a weakness, namely that it does not contain detailed local historical events so that teaching materials are needed that contain historical stories, especially the events of Palagan Ambarawa in detail to increase students' knowledge. Based on the results of interviews with teachers and students, the material needed in teaching materials is to contain complete material, contain pictures to explain the material, historical material that is contextual, and material that creates a sense of pride for students when reading the material, and material that is in accordance with basic competencies.
