Abstract
Good history learning will be achieved if the learning process is carried out effectively by utilizing appropriate media. During the pandemic, teachers are required to be more active, creative, and innovative in the use of technology as a learning medium. The aims of this study are (1) to analyze the background of the selection of learning media by teachers in history learning at SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga and MAN Salatiga, (2) to describe how teachers use the media in their history learning, (3) to evaluate the usefulness of history learning media in SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga and MAN Salatiga. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The location of this research is SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga and MAN Salatiga. Sources of data in this study are informants, events, and documents. Data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observations and document studies. Test the validity of the data using source triangulation and technical triangulation. The data analysis technique in this study uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study (1) the background of the selection of learning media by teachers in history learning has different considerations, the history teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga in the selection of learning media considers availability, taking into account environmental conditions, student character, and learning objectives, while the history teacher at MAN Salatiga besides these four things also pays attention to the practicality of the media used (2) the use of learning media in history learning carried out by teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga and MAN Salatiga depends on the creativity of each teacher. Teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga in learning history use learning media such as power points (PPT), videos, pictures, maps, and also textbooks, while for teachers at MAN Salatiga, apart from using power point (PPT) and textbooks, they also use media learning in the form of Quizizz (3) evaluation of the usefulness of using history learning media conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga and MAN Salatiga, namely that the media can clarify the material, besides that learning media can increase students' learning motivation. However, the use of learning media by teachers has different impacts, there are students who like learning media in the form of power point (PPT), Quizizz, and there are also students who prefer learning media such as documentary films.
