Abstract

nitial field studies conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Tegal showed that the situation and conditions of learning history in the classroom were still using ppt media and students were less enthusiastic, and students' motivation was still low during learning. The objectives of this study were (1) to determine the use of learning media used by history teachers at SMA Negeri 5 Tegal during history learning (2) to determine how the process of developing an e-book media based on the Canva application was (3) to determine the effectiveness of the use of application-based e-book media. canva as a medium used to increase student learning motivation. The method used in this study is Research and Development (R&D), using the ADDIE development model. Which consists of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The type of data used is qualitative and quantitative data with a one group pretest posttest design model. Data collection techniques by observation, interviews and questionnaires. The data analysis used is product feasibility analysis, gain score analysis and statistical test analysis consisting of normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing with Paired Samples Test. The results of this study are (1) the learning media used in history learning still uses power points, short videos, textbooks and worksheets. (2) The development of this e-book media uses the ADDIE model and validation is carried out in two stages with the results of media experts 87.5%, material experts 95%, learning experts 92.5% and student responses 94.2%. (3) the effectiveness of e-book media in increasing learning motivation is seen from the results of measuring student learning motivation obtained from the results of gain score data analysis and statistical tests, which obtain a g value of 0.569 which is included in the medium category with an increase of 15.33%, and the test the statistic that obtained the results of all data being normally distributed and homogeneous, while the results of hypothesis testing obtained results of 0.000 <0.05 which means the hypothesis is accepted. Suggestions: 1. It is necessary to make improvements to the operating system of the Canva application-based e-book media in order to minimize usage disturbances such as the length of time when opening the e-book. 2. Need to add lots of illustrations and add audio visuals in the e-book to make the material look more attractive. 3. This e-book media, the material is only limited to the material during the Japanese occupation in Indonesia, so it is hoped that teachers and other researchers will be able to develop more diverse materials.
