Abstract
The temple is an ancient building cultural heritage of the Hindu kingdom. One of the temple buildings in Indonesia, namely the Dieng Temple complex in Central Java, which contains groups of temples, one of which is the Arjuna Temple group, which is still relatively complete in number of temples. The ornaments in the Arjuna Temple group have a more perfect and complete visual completeness than the temples in the Dieng complex. The purpose of this study is to explain the form of ornaments in the Arjuna Temple group in the Dieng Temple complex and explain the meaning of ornaments in the Arjuna Temple group in the Dieng Temple complex. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through Observation Techniques, Interview Techniques, and Documentation. Then the data analysis technique uses several stages such as Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Conclusions/Verification. The results of the study explain that the ornaments contained in each part of the temple in the Arjuna Temple group include Geometric motifs and Organic motifs. From the two motifs, the types of motifs are classified, namely: (1) Pasted Paper Motifs, (2) Square Motifs, (3) Floral motifs (flower stylized and lotus flowers), (4) Kala motifs, (5) Makara motifs and (6) The motifs of the gods (Trimurti of the Hindu gods, namely Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu), (7) Antefix motifs, (8) Curtain motifs and (9) Pilaster motifs. Associated with the symbolic meaning of the ornaments found in the Arjuna Temple group is related to Hindu mythology.
