Abstract

Ajaya Roll of the dice and Ajaya rise of Kali, the two novels that was used for this studywere written by Anand Neelakantan, one ofthe famous authors in India which retells the mythological story of Mahabharata by using the vanquished perspective, Suyodhana. The major characters of the novels, Yudhishtra and Suyodhana portraying different personality within themselves also showing different behaviour that people around them judge their behaviour and personality according the society’s rules and values to determine their good and bad quality. Although those novels only fictional stories but they represent the actual life circumstances nowadays where the society judging good or bad of a person only based on their own perspective without knowing the reasons behind a person’s behaviour or their personality. Thus, the aim of this study is to know about how the major characters personality’s is portrayed and how their personality develops in each stage of age by using Jungian’s archetype and personality development theory. This final project used exploratory qualitative research as its research design also document analysis and note-taking as its research instruments. From the study, it is known that both of the major characters have good and bad personalities that are depicted by their behaviour and they are develop in each of their age phase which influenced by their nature, life experiences, environmental condition, and even the other characters thought.
