Abstract

Technology has influenced almost every industry, including education. Many schools have now integrated technology into their instruction through Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Podcasts are seen to be a genuine learning tool for teaching English, particularly in the area of listening. Students' perceptions of podcast content used to teach listening in English online learning are investigated in this study. This study is qualitative research, and the researcher used descriptive qualitative design. The participants of the study were ten students from X IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Gubug. The instrument of collecting data were online questionnaire and interview. This research shared 20 close-ended questionnaires to 10 students and three questions for the interview. The result of this research was presented descriptively in order to reveal the students’ perception comprehensively. The research found Podcast gets positive perception because students have pleasure in using Podcasts in learning English because Podcasts are easy to use. Students feel that Podcasts is useful for them during learning process, and they have a desire to use Podcast as an alternative way to learn English. It can be concluded that Podcast is a suitable medium as the learning tool in the teaching and learning process of English.
