Abstract
This study aims to explain how to implement Cake English Application in learning vocabulary and to find out whether there is any difference of the students’ vocabulary before and after receiving Cake English Application. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The population was the 8th grade students of SMPN 4 Cepu in the academic year 2020/2021and the sample consisted of 60 students from two classes where 30 students as the experimental group (VIII C) taught by using Cake English Application technique and 30 students as the control group (VIII F) taught by using conventional technique. The tests instrument was in the form of matching question. The tests were pre-test given before the treatment, and post-test given after the treatment. The result calculated using SPSS 26.0 showed the mean score of the Wilcoxon in the pre-post experimental group was 38.0469<70.85, while the pre-post control group 31.50<61.75. The result of the Mann Whitney U-Test showed that NPar Test-Statistics of the mean rank in the pre-test experiment and control was 35.23>25.77, while the post-test experiment and control was 35.35>25.65. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a good achievement in learning vocabulary by using Cake English Application.
