Abstract

Zumaroh, Alfi, 2250404515. Women’s Submission in Western Fairytales (Cinderella, Snow White and Rapunzel). Final Project, English Department, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Semarang States University Keywords: Doing nothing, weeping, being silent and depressed, being indecisive Living happily ever after is dreamed by everyone. On the other side, it is very difficult for some women to find for their happiness. It is caused by the women’s submission that effect to the sufferings to themselves. Nowadays, women are merely regarded as the second class. They are absolutely weak, passive and mindless, as described in the western fairytales (Cinderella, Snow White and Rapunzel). These women get the sufferings but they are actionless women. They do not take an active part in creating and determining their own lives and their own futures. They merely wait for the handsome princes to save and make their lives meaningful. The women’s submission make lower of women’s status, and birth to the sufferings to themselves. Meanwhile, these conditions pose men as heroes. Women need to be respected as others. And in order to be the honorable women in the world, they should fight for the righteousness and be able to rebel the violence and also reject the ideas about women, which says that women are mindless, weepy, passive and helpless creatures.
