Abstract

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia stated that tuberculosis was the main cause of morbidity and mortality in PLWHA by 25%. This study was aimed to determine the determinants associated with changes of CD4 levels among PLWHA coinfected with TB in Bandung City Regional General Hospital. The type of research used is an analytic observational study with a retrospective cohort design. The numbers of samples were 77 samples. The instruments used in this study were patient medical records. Data were analyzed using Chi Square and Fisher test. The results showed that age (RR=1.050 and p=1,000), gender (RR=0.810 and p=0.109), work status (RR=0.806 and p=0.109), baseline CD4 cell count (RR=0.240 and p=0.015), clinical stage (RR=0.750 and p=0,821), adherence to OAT consumption (RR=1,076 and p=1.000), ART adherence (RR=2,000 and p=0,363 ), and duration of ART (RR=0.803 and p=0.062). There is association between baseline CD4 count on changes of CD4 levels among PLWHA coinfected with TB. Meanwhile, there is no association between age, gender, work status, clinical stage, adherence to anti tuberculosis drugs consumption, ART adherence, and duration of ART on changes of CD4 levels among PLWHA coinfected with TB in Bandung City Regional General Hospital.
