Abstract

Palm oil is Indonesia's main export commodity. In 2019, palm oil exports contributed 9.28% to Indonesia's total exports. In addition, Indonesia is the largest producer and exporter of palm oil in the world. Therefore, the increase in palm oil exports is important to continue to be maintained. This study aims to analyze the factors that affect Indonesian palm oil export volume to 7 major export destination countries. The data used in this study are secondary data. This study uses the Gravity Model approach with panel data regression, consisting of 7 major destination countries for Indonesian palm oil export for the period 2001-2019. The dependent variable used in this study is the Volume of Indonesian Palm Oil Exports to 7 Export Destination Countries. While the independent variables used are the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Export Destination Countries, Real Exchange Rate of the Rupiah compared to the Export Destination Countries, Distance, Population of the Export Destination Countries, and Level of Trade Openness of the Export Destination Countries. The results of this study show that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Export Destination Countries positively and significantly affects the Volume of Indonesian Palm Oil Export to 7 Export Destination Countries, the Real Exchange Rate of Rupiah compared to Export Destination Countries does not have a significant effect on the Volume of Indonesian Palm Oil Export to 7 Export Destination Countries, Distance does not have a significant effect on the Volume of Indonesian Palm Oil Export to 7 Export Destination Countries, Population of Export Destination Countries positively and significantly affects the Volume of Indonesian Palm Oil Export to 7 Export Destination Countries, and the level of Trade Openness of Export Destination Countries positively and significantly affect the Volume of Indonesian Palm Oil Exports to 7 Export Destination Countries. Based on the results of the study, the researcher provides the following suggestions: The Indonesian government and palm oil entrepreneurs are expected to continue to pay attention to the development of the economic conditions of export destination countries. Government policies are needed to maintain exchange rate movements. The Indonesian government should continue to improve infrastructure in order to distribute goods abroad. Efforts need to be made to maintain consumer confidence in Indonesian palm oil. The government conducts trade cooperation with trading partner countries that have not yet established cooperation with Indonesia.
