Abstract

In 2020, Indonesia was shaken by the emergence of a new type of virus called the corona virus or its scientific designation namely Covid-19. Covid-19 patients have feelings of depression, stress and anxiety when they are diagnosed positive. Not only Covid-19 patients, but also people who have not been exposed to it, also experience the anxiety of being infected because of this pandemic. Even healthcare workers who play a role and fight against this pandemic are also likely to experience anxiety because they are vulnerable to be infected with viruses and pressures at work. This can cause work stress on healthcare workers. Work stress on healthcare workers can affect performance in handling Covid-19, so it’s necessary for healthcare workers to be aware on their psychological condition so that they can maintain and improve psychological health while working in the midst of pandemic. This study aims to describe the level of work stress of healthcare workers during the corona pandemic. The type of research used quantitative research with a descriptive research design. In determining the research sample, the researcher used a non-probability sampling technique, namely snowball sampling, with 229 health workers as doctors, nurses and midwives as respondents. The data of this study were analyzed descriptively with the help of statistical software. The results of this study indicate that the description of the work stress of healthcare workers who work as doctors, nurses and midwives is at the frequency of mild work stress category. Based on the three symptoms of work stress, from physiological and psychological symptoms show mild work stress while the behavioral symptoms show very mild work stress.
