Abstract

Keroncong is an Indonesian cultural heritage that must be passed down from generation to generation. Inheritance that has been attached to the community is an orally heritance (oral tradition) for performers and singers keroncong who learn the songs. This study aims to find out how the learning process to sing keroncong through oral traditions in Semarang. The research methods used is qualitative. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and document studies. Studies show that process to sing keroncong through the oral tradition was divided into 2 categories, namely the learning process only orally and the learning process orally but also reading scores. The process of oral learning is effectively used in modern generations and has supported the existence of keroncong music to keep it sustainable. However, there is a weakness, namely that the results of the performance of some singers do not match the existing staffs or the notation is not quite right.
