Abstract

This research is a qualitative study using the novel Little Women as the material object and the main data source. A story that tells about five women who live without the presence of a male figure in the family. This study intends to 1) To describe the female position in the nineteenth century in Little Women, 2) To explain the feminism process in Little Women, 3) To reveal the disruption or challenge of feminism process Little Women. This study uses a feminist approach that focuses on issues of gender inequality, especially statements in feminism theory by Harrison and Boyd and Mary Wollstonecraft. In this study, the data obtained will be observed and described from the point of view of feminism, the results of which will be used to compile the author's message related to the problem. This research produces several descriptions of the position of traditional women in the 19th century, the process of the emergence of feminism in the novel, and the obstacles or criticisms of feminism that are raised.
