Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the teacher's pedagogical competence in utilizing information technologies in teaching and learning process. The objectives were to describe the utilization of information technologies in teaching and learning process by an English teacher, explain the challenges that were faced by the English teacher in utilizing information technologies, and describe how the English teacher solved those challenges. In this study, I used a qualitative case study method. The participant of this study was an English teacher in SMA Negeri 03 Slawi in the academic year of 2019/2020. In this study, I used interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis as data collection methods. The result revealed that the teacher combined information technologies provided by the school with the lecturing techniques. This study also showed that there were challenges faced by the teacher in utilizing information technologies. To solve the challenges, the teacher conducted a learning process in the library and sometimes asked the students to utilize the students’ phone. In conclusion, information technologies were optimally utilized by the English teacher that helped English teacher and the students in the teaching and learning process
