Abstract

This study seeks to find out the English teaching strategy applied in Bina Bangsa School Semarang. There are two objective statements discussed in this study: (1) to find out the English teaching strategy in Bina Bangsa School Semarang, (2) to depict the implementation of English teaching strategy in the International School. In collecting the data, the researcher used snowball technique and semi structural interview. it is used because it allows me to dig the detail and deep information about the implementation of English teaching strategy in Bina Bangsa School Semarang. In checking the validity of the data result, the researcher observed the International School once again and compared to the other researchers’ result such as (Siddiqui, 2012), (Suleman & Hussain, 2016), (Tarigan, 2009), called triangulation. The result of this study showed that the strategy used in Bina Bangsa School Semarang called Group discussion and cooperative learning, is a Eclectic Teaching Strategy more specifically Communicative-Reconstructive strategy based on the criteria or characteristic of eclectic strategy which was proven from the lesson plan and classroom observation and interview results. Another activity that is provided to enhance the students English skill is English week that consists of some English competions such as spelling bees and storytelling. In brief, the researcher can say that the Eclectic strategy used in Bina Bangsa School is really practical and was proven by the students' enthusiasm and how good the students' English ability is during class observation or interview. Eventually, the researcher hopes that the English teaching strategy in Bina Bangsa School can reference other teaching English teachers.
