Abstract

The achievement of the sports class program at SMP Negeri 1 Sumber Cirebon Regency has increased the number of medals won from year to year. However, the increase in the number of medals was not evenly distributed in all sports supported by the sports class program, and there were even sports that had decreased in achievement. This condition implies that there are problems that must be fixed in the sports class program. The problem is that the management of the sports class program manager carrying out all duties requires cooperation and coordination of stakeholders in order to achieve a goal. This shows the need for good and serious management, so that everything targeted and planned can be achieved. Based on these problems, the focus of this research problem is the evaluation of the management of the sports class program at SMP Negeri 1 Sumber Cirebon Regency. This study aims to analyze and evaluate (1) the planning system, (2) the organizing system, (3) the actuating system, (4) the controlling system. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources were taken from school principal, sports class coordinator, coaches, athletes, and parents. Data analysis techniques used data triangulation with (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, (3) drawing conclusions. The results of this study: (1) The planning system for sports class program management has met the categorization criteria, i.e. it is clear who, what, when, where, and how it is done; (2) Organizing management of the sports class program meets the categorization criteria, i.e. complete management, a work mechanism, unclear written job description, routine activities, and talks at the beginning of the year; (3) Actuating of sports class program management has met the categorization criteria, i.e. implementation of the program, achievements, carrying out planned activities, and completing the 5M (man, money, method, material, mechine); 4) Controlling management of the sports class program meets the categorization criteria, i.e. supervision, report, evaluation, and monitoring. Conclusions: (1) Planning for sports class program management is very good; (2) Organizing the management of the sports class program is good; (3) Actuating the management of the sports class program is very good; (4) Controlling management of the sports class program is very good
