Abstract

Chemistry subjects as the basis of expertise are not placed in accordance with the needs of vocational subjects in every skill competency in SMK. The need for chemical materials in SMK for each skill competency is not the same for different skill competencies. Therefore, a vocational context integrated e-module design is needed to support chemistry learning activities and students for independent learning. This study aims to develop a chemical e-module of corrosion materials that is integrated in the vocational context of networked computer engineering to improve critical thinking skills. The quality of e-modules is measured by the criteria of validity, effectiveness, and practicality in the learning process. The development model used in this research is the 4D model (define, design, development, and dissemination). The research was conducted at SMKN 8 Semarang. The small scale test was carried out in class X TKJ 3 and the large scale test in class X TKJ 2 as the research subject. The research instruments were e-module assessment, critical thinking skills, and student response questionnaires. The validity of the e-module is viewed from material validation and media validation. The test for increasing students' critical thinking skills was carried out by calculating the percentage increase in the mean pretest and posttest scores, the Paired Sample t-test, and the N-Gain test. The results of the feasibility test of the material expert validation e-module with a mean of 3.70 in the very good category and the validation of the media expert of 3.68 in the very good category and feasible to be developed with small�scale test results with the respondent's reliable results of 0.84. The test for improving critical thinking skills, the N-Gain test that has been carried out, shows N-Gain 0.57 on the corrosion material with moderate criteria. The t-test shows that the t-count value of 25.49 in the corrosion material is greater than the t-table price of 2.03, indicating that there is a significant increase in the value of the pretest and posttest results. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the integrated e-module corrosion in the vocational context of network computer engineering that has been developed can effectively improve students' critical thinking skills
