Abstract

Indonesian still considered low in understanding and applying astrophysic. After the promulgation law of UU No.21 tahun 2013 concerning Space, it became the legal umbrella for space and proofing the government's concern in the development of astronomy education. Meanwhile, the existing planetarium not sufficient for the implementation of education and entertainment, it cannot properly facilitate the needs of the community. Planetarium with observatory and exhibition facilities needed to be opened to the public as one of the informal facilities education solutions for the general public in a fun way. Semarang Regency area calculated fullfill specific criteria for accommodate activities related to Planetarium in the Central Java region, as well as Indonesia. In solving the problem, carried out in terms of five aspects, including functional aspects, contextual aspects, technical aspects, performance aspects, and architectural aspects. Functional aspects considering, the need for the amount of space based on the function of activities Planetarium, Observatory, exhibits, and services, which synchronized with visitor growth over the next 20 years. Discussions on contextual aspects include site criteria with a minimum altitude of 800 meters above sea level, rainfall of 3,500 mm/year, temperature differences that are not extreme and allotment territory for tourism. In the technical aspect, it describes the use of the foundation structure of the mini pile, geodesic dome, and the use of perforated plate material for the best acoustic result. The performance system aspects are utilities and transportation in buildings. The architectural aspects are related to the emphasis on architectural symbolism and the use of domes in its application. The landscape arrangement described is related to parking, vegetation, and pedestrian. Finally, what will be elaborated in the spatial approach includes cycles in the building and the design approach within the limits of symbolism.
