Abstract
Utilization of local potential or the surrounding environment as a learning resource accordance with learning materials can improve the quality of learning. Biodiversity material requires contextual learning and can be taught by utilizing the natural environment as a learning resource and teaching material. Mount Merbabu is an area managed by National Park and also a conservation area so that its diversity is relatively high and still sustainable. The purposes of this study are: analyzing biodiversity in The Mount Merbabu National Park, analyzing the characteristics of biodiversity teaching materials in Merbabu Mount National Park, analyzing the validity of teaching materials and analyzing the effectiveness of teaching materials. This study using the ―Research and Development‖ method. (R&D) using the ADDIE method (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The results showed (1) Biodiversity in Mount Merbabu National Park includes diversity of genes, namely roses, diversity of species, namely orchids, and diversity of ecosystems, namely forests, savanna, and rice fields (2) Characteristics of teaching materials for biodiversity in Mount Merbabu National Park have their own excellence, which is the contextual based teaching materials by utilizing the surrounding environment as a resource learning (3) The validity of teaching materials based on material experts is 86.11% , very feasible criteria and based on media experts 80%, which are the proper criterias (4) The effectiveness of teaching materials obtains a score of N -Gain of 0.39 is in the medium category and has an effect size score of 0,36 which is in the moderate category, so that the teaching material is effective against teaching materials. Biodiversity teaching materials in Mount Merbabu National Park can be used as a learning resource for high school students.
