Abstract

The application of character education since the declaration of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) as a conservation campus has not been maximized. Awareness of conservation behavior such as sorting and disposing of waste and energy saving is still lacking. UNNES seeks to foster mental attitudes, behavior of UNNES students one of them through the Environmental Education and Conservation Education (PKLH) courses. This study aims to analyze the attitudes and behavior of conservation students who have taken environmental education and conservation education courses, and analyze the relationship between student attitudes and conservation behavior. The method used in this study is a survey method with a sample size of 385 respondents. Data were taken using psychological scale attitudes and behavioral which were distributed using Google Form and questionnaire. The psychological scale of conservation attitudes and behaviors is based on the 7 pillars of UNNES conservation. Data was collected from January 2017 to April 2018. Psychological scale data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively based on the classification of theoretical mean criteria, whereas for the relationship between attitudes and conservation behaviors of students were analyzed with Pearson correlation and coefficient of determination (r square) calculated using SPSS 16.0 software. The results showed that the conservation attitude of UNNES students who had taken environmental education and conservation education courses were included in the high category with an average classical value of 82.16. Attitude consists of three aspects namely cognitive, affective and conative which are facilitated by PKLH courses and habituation that is implemented through campus policy. This encourages students to be more conservation so that the attitude scores are high. Student conservation behavior in this case included in the medium category with a classical average score of 192.09. Based on the Pearson correlation test it is known that the relationship between attitudes and conservation behavior is significant with a value of 0.579, the direction of the relationship between positive attitudes and behavior with the contribution of attitudes to behavior is only 33.6%
