Abstract

Mathematical communication ability, Mathematical Habits of Mind support a role in learning mathematics. The objectives of this study were (1) to analyze the effectiveness of mathematical communication ability and MHoM through Numbered Heads Together with Written Corrective Feedback; (2) Describe mathematical communication based on students' MHoM levels through NHT with WCF; (3) to describe the relationship between written and oral mathematical communication ability. This research is a mixed method with a sequential explanatory method carried out online through google classroom. Data collection techniques in this study used mathematical communication ability tests, MHoM questionnaires, observation and interviews. The study population was grade VII students of JHS 4 Rembang. Quantitative data using simple random sampling technique. Qualitative data with subject selection is purposive sampling. Quantitative data analysis techniques mathematical communication ability with parametric statistics individual mastery test, classical mastery test, and t test. Meanwhile, MHoM qualitative data which is converted into quantitative ordinal data is transformed into interval data with individual mastery test, classical mastery test, and t test. Qualitative data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that (1) NHT with WCF was effective against mathematical communication ability and MHoM; (2) The results of description of mathematical communication skills based on different MHoM levels indicate that there is high mathematical communication ability with level 4 and medium with level 3; (3) The results of the description of written and oral mathematical communication ability vary that written mathematical communication ability are high with level 4 and medium with level 3. While oral mathematical communication ability is high with level 4, moderate with level 3, and low with level 2 or 1.
