Abstract

Kemijen is one of the sub-districts in East Semarang District which is the residence for marginalized groups in the city of Semarang. The problems in Kemijen consist of poverty, rob, flood, and garbage. Kemijen is an area with the highest crime rate in East Semarang District. The physical environment and social environment like that are certainly not suitable for use as a place to live, either for children, adolescents, or adults. The objectives of this study are (1) To examine the role of arena, habitus, and social capital in adolescents in marginalized groups in the Kelurahan Kemijen (2) To examine the social behavior of adolescents in marginal groups in the Kelurahan Kemijen. This research uses a qualitative approach. The research was conducted in the city of Semarang to be precise in the Kemijen village. The focus of this research includes the role of habitus, arenas, and social capital among adolescents in marginalized groups, as well as adolescent social behavior in marginalized groups. The technique of selecting informants using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation and document study. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The data validity test used data/source triangulation techniques, theory triangulation and method triangulation The results show that (1) Pierre Bourdieu's theory regarding the relationship between habitus and arenas and social capital forms social reality in this study is proven. However, this research also found gaps between Pierre Bourdieu arena's habitus theory and the reality in the field. The findings in the field from this study are not always the relationship between the habitus and the arena that influence the social behavior of adolescents in marginalized groups. The will of individuals from adolescents in marginalized groups can also influence their social behavior. There are also values and norms that are customary in society. (2) Adolescents in the marginalized group have two types of behavior, namely positive and negative behavior. Teenagers dropping out of school have negative or deviant behavior. Meanwhile, school teenagers tend to have positive behavior Researchers suggest that families should pay more attention to their teenage children. For the community, it should embrace youth by directing them to positive activities. The community needs to take firm action if in the environment where they live there are teenagers who commit deviant actions. The need for providing training or job skills for adolescents. Providing legal education and the dangers of smoking, alcoholic drinks, drugs and other addictive substances
