Abstract

The purpose of this research focuses on the concept of traditional dance education, as a form of social interaction between the Kaili Tribe. First, the socio�cultural conditions and environmental resources that are faced and can be used as inspiration for the life of the Kaili ethnic community. Second, the structure and form of the Pontanu dance performance as a cultural expression whose existence is part of fulfilling the integrative needs of the Kaili ethnic community, in Central Sulawesi. which is implied and understood, which is reflected in the performance of the Pontanu dance, is seen as a symbolic expression of the Kaili ethnic community, in Central Sulawesi, Kempat forms and patterns of inheritance of values contained in the Pontanu dance, which take place and affirm the character of the Kaili ethnic community. Qualitative research methods use a single case study design approach, an interdisciplinary approach to understand and explain the phenomena studied. Data collection techniques: (1) Non-participant observation (observation) with structured observation types, (2) In-depth interviews (3) Documentation studies for collect data in the form of information from research sources. Analysis of the data in the study used a research procedure model of the Gertrude prokosch kurath dance, from the ethnochorological discipline regarding research on the Pontanu Dance. The validity of the data uses the Credibility Test and the Technique of Checking the validity of the data there are five steps: first comparing the observed data with the results of the interview, Second comparing what the informant said in public with the front, Third comparing what the informant said in public with the front Four comparing perspectives and circumstances people with people's responses. Fifth, comparing the results of interviews with documentary data using interactive model data analysis techniques. The results of this study lead to the first findings of the results of the social concept as a cultural expression in the structure and form of pontanu dance performances whose existence is part of fulfilling the integrity of society. The two implied and understood meanings are reflected in the pontanu dance performance as a symbolic expression of society and the findings of the three patterns the inheritance of the values contained in the Pontanu dance which takes place and gives confirmation to the character of the Kaili ethnic community, in Central Sulawesi
