Abstract

In the current era of globalization, whether children songs are aware or not, they are at a low point and are experiencing various challenges and pressures of modernization. The pressure from external influences on children's songs can be seen from the influence of emerging gadged which is favored by children. As with children, this encourages local artist Sumaryanto to create children's songs. The research objective was to explain Sumaryanto's creativity in creating children's songs. To analyze what character values are contained in Sumaryanto's children's songs in shaping children's personalities. This study uses qualitative methods with an interdisciplinary approach, namely psychology and art education. Data collection was done by using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The validity of the data was based on the criteria of credibility with the triangulation technique. Data analysis used the procedure proposed by Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, data verification. The results showed that the creativity of Sumaryanto's children's song creation was shown through 1) Person, as a creative person Sumaryanto had knowledge of music, 2) Process, carried out by the stages of finding ideas, composing notes or melodies, composing lyrics, and determining the rhythm. 3) Product, Sumaryanto's work is an original work as evidenced by several award certificates by the local government. 4) Press, the children's song by Sumaryanto was created because of the adequate facilities and always received good appreciation. Children's songs by Sumaryanto have a role in aspects of child development, namely cognitive aspects by providing knowledge through nature�themed songs, aspects of emotional development by making children more sensitive to the environment, social aspects developing with interactions with friends when practicing, psychomotor aspects also develop seen when children shake your body and move your lips while singing. Children's songs by Sumaryanto have character values that can be taken by children through simple song lyrics but have positive meanings. The values in question are in the form of environmental care, curiosity, respect for parents and honesty. The recommended suggestions include: 1) regarding creativity so that it can be further improved on the theme of the song to be appointed. 2) regarding the character value so that the teacher can provide an explanation of the meaning of the song so that the child can understand the message of the song being studied.
