Abstract

Explanatory text is a text that explains or explains natural and social processes or phenomena (Kosasih, et al, 2013: 85-86). The learning process of writing explanatory text still has several obstacles. Therefore, the solution to dealing with these obstacles is by using a learning model that integrates offline learning (face-to-face) and online learning with the help of learning media that supports the learning process, namely the blended learning model with the help of audio and visual media. In addition to using interesting media and models, researchers also pay attention to the learning styles of students. It is important to understand the learning styles of students or learning modalities by the teacher. Knowing the learning styles of students, will make it easier for teachers to provide a supportive environment and make it easier for students to absorb information optimally. There are three formulations of the problem and the objectives of this study (1) the effectiveness of learning to write expansive text through a blended learning model assisted by audio media based on the learning styles of class VIII students; (2) analyzing the effectiveness of learning to write expansive text through a blended learning model assisted by visual media based on the learning styles of class VIII students; (3) to analyze the difference in the effectiveness of learning to write explanatory text through a blended learning model assisted by audio media and visual media through a blended learning model based on the learning styles of class VIII students. This study used a quasi-experimental research type with a simple factorial design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP and equivalent. The sample in learning to write explanations is 2 classes, namely class VIII A and class VIII B which are used as experimental class A1 (VIIIA) with audio media through the blended learning model in learning to write explanations using the blended learning model and experimental class A2 (VIII B) with Visual media through the blended learning model in learning to write ix explanations uses the blended learning model. There are three variables in this study, namely the independent variable, the dependent variable, and the moderator variable. The instrument used in this study was a test instrument. The procedure for implementing this research consists of several stages 1) Planning, 2) Implementation / Treatment, 3) Observation, 4) evaluation, and 5) preparation of reports. This research uses the SPSS 22 program to facilitate data processing. Before the data analysis was carried out, the prerequisite test was carried out first, namely the normality test and the homogeneity test, then the t-test for testing the effectiveness and the LSD test for testing the learning style. The results of this study include four things. First, learning to write explanatory text through a blended learning model with the help of audio media based on auditory and visual learning styles has proven to be effective. Second, learning to write explanatory text through a blended learning model with the help of visual media based on auditory and visual learning styles has been proven effective. Third, learning to write explanatory text using visual media with the type of visual learning style has the highest average value, so that by means of anova and descriptive tests it can be concluded that the use of visual media with a visual learning style is more effective than the use of audio media with an auditory learning style or use. visual media with an auditory learning style. Based on the results of the research, learning to write explanatory text through a blended learning model with the help of audio and visual media based on the learning styles of grade VIII junior high school students is feasible to be applied in learning activities. Using the blended learning model with the help of audio and visual media learning activities is easier and is not limited by time and space
