Abstract

The development of children's vocabulary plays an important role to support language development possessed by early childhood. In addition, creativity in every child also needs to be recognized, nurtured, and developed through appropriate stimulation so that children's creativity can be realized. Vocabulary and creativity in early childhood can be developed through various activities, one of them through free drawing activities. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of free drawing activities on vocabulary and creativity of young children. And the effectiveness of the free drawing method in increasing the creativity of early childhood. This study uses a quantitative approach to quasi-experimental research designs (quasy experiments). The study population was Darmawanita Kindergarten in Batangan District, Pati Regency totaling 10 institutions. The sample of this research is TK Dharma Wanita Bululumulyo with 46 students and TK Dharma Wanita Ngening with 51 students. The sampling technique in this study uses simple random sampling technique. The sample involved in this study was willing and obtained approval from parents and teachers to be involved in this study. The vocabulary scores and children's creativity in this study were obtained through quasi eksperimental design namely the pretest and postest. Data analysis in this study includes descriptive data analysis and inferential data analysis using t test with the help of SPSS 20.0 for windows. The results showed that the activities after free drawing effectiveness the vocabulary of early childhood with a probability value of 0,000> 0.05. The increase in vocabulary is 12.29%. In addition, free drawing activities are effective in increasing the vocabulary of early childhood. Activities drawing freely effectiveness to enhancement the creativity of early childhood with a probability value of 0,000> 0.05. The increase in creativity by 11.58% and free drawing activities are effective in increasing the vocabulary of early childhood. The conclusion of the research is that there is effectiveness of free drawing activities to increase vocabulary and creativity of early childhood. Free drawing activities effectively increase vocabulary and creativity of young children. So it is recommended for teachers to implement free drawing activities to improve vocabulary and creativity of young children. In addition, it is hoped that there will be further research related to this research to see the effect of free drawing on other aspectsofdevelopment.
