Abstract

Teachers are required to be creative in managing learning process so that learning objectives can be best achieved. This study aims to analyze the differences in learning outcomes using project based learning model and using talking stick type of cooperative learning model with student ability levels as moderating variable, and to analyze whether there is an interaction between learning models with the levels of student ability on student learning outcomes in the Quran Hadith learning process. This study used a quantitative experimental method using a 2x2 factorial design. The results of this study covered three analyses: (1) there were differences in student learning outcomes using project based learning model and talking stick type of cooperative learning model with sig. values 0,000; (2) there were differences in the achievement of student learning outcomes based on initial ability with sig. 0.002; (3) there was an interaction between the learning models and the levels of student ability towards the student learning outcomes with a sig. value of 0.011. The conclusion of this study is to provide direct experience for teachers in testing the learning models and they can be used by the teachers in selecting the right learning model in improving the learning process.
