Abstract

Some of the problems faced by students in learning are the results of learning achievement, the results of learning achievement in science which are one of the problem factors faced by students in obtaining assessments. This can be seen from the phenomena that occur in the school environment in the learning process such as student motivation. In addition, there is also the role of parents who influence the educational process with different levels of socioeconomic status. The research objective descriptively was to determine (1) the tendency of learning motivation, (2) the tendency of parents' socioeconomic status, and (3) the tendency of learning achievement in science. The research method in this research is using ex post facto method with quantitative research design. The sample used in the study amounted to 85 students taken using the simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire and tests. Testing the instrument was done by testing the validity and reliability testing. The data were analyzed by means of descriptive analysis, prerequisite analysis, and hypothesis testing. The descriptive research results show that (1) learning motivation is 44.8% in the high category, (2) the parents' socioeconomic status is 56.85% in the moderate category, and (3) the science learning achievement is 49.5% in the high category. high category. The results of the analysis prerequisite test were normality and linearity tests. The normality test is obtained if Xcount > X2 , for learning motivation it is obtained Xcount of 63.176 > 18.307, the socioeconomic status of parents is obtained by Xcount of 49.941 > 16.919, and learning achievement is obtained by Xcount of 26.682 > 18.307. Linearity test results are obtained if Fcount > 0.05 for learning motivation, it is obtained Fcount of 0.664 > 0.05, the economic status of parents is 0.977 > 0.05. The results of hypothesis testing using the t test, if tcount > ttable, obtained tcount of 4.875 and ttable of 1.988, then tcount > ttable. The conclusions of this study are (1) there is a relationship between learning motivation and socioeconomic status of parents that affect science learning achievement, (2) partially learning motivation and socioeconomic status of parents have a strong relationship with science learning achievement.
