Abstract

Problem solving ability is the most important goal taught in mathematics learning. Students' mathematical problem solving abilities can be trained to use appropriate learning models. The PBL model is a learning model that can support students to practice developing mathematical problem solving skills. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the PBL learning model assisted by second mathematics recreation on students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The research design used was a mix method with a sequential explanatory type. The population of this research is class V SDN Wangandawa 02 dan SDN Cangkring 02 Tegal. There were six students in the research subjects who were determined from the response to the learning application of the PBL model assisted by second mathematics recreation. Each category was taken by two students for each category of high, medium, and low. Collecting quantitative data using a questionnaire for the application of the PBL model assisted by recreation and a test of students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Collecting qualitative data using documentation, and interviews with mathematical problem solving abilities. The results showed that (1) the PBL learning model assisted with second-hand mathematics recreation towards students' mathematical problem solving abilities. (2) The students' mathematical problem solving ability in the experimental class is better than the control class. (3) There is an influence between the application of the PBL model assisted by the second mathematics recreation on the students' mathematical problem solving ability with the magnitude of the effect is 36.8%. Based on the research results, it is suggested that: (1) Teachers should be able to increase students' mathematics learning activeness with special methods that they believe in. (2) Students with the category of low and moderate mathematical problem solving abilities need special attention so that all problem solving indicators are met. (3) The media used in the PBL learning model can be developed.
