Abstract

This final project is an analysis of the personality transformation reflected on Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars. It emphasizes deeply about the personality and its development in the main character. Personality does not just become trivial things again if there is a development as time goes by, which directs into progression or regression that is finally called the personality transformation. Therefore, this research aims to describe the process of the personality transformation of Hanna Marin, the main character. It comprehends what factors that follow the main character changes her personality. This is a qualitative study. The writer used psychology of literature especially Jung's Theory to answer the research problem. The results indicate as follows: First, internal and external factors contribute a lot to her personality transformation. Those traumas from the past have forced Hanna Marin to change appearance and personality. This transformation is analyzed by Jung’s theory about structure of personality, then it will bring us into the Jung’s typology and psyche dynamic, which is from introvert to extrovert. Second, Hanna gives a lot of efforts to change her appearance and personality because of her desire to be accepted in society and does not want to get insulted such as body shaming and verbal bullying.
