Abstract

During global pandemic of Covid-19, the IndonesianMinistry of Education and Culturemade a study-from-home policy requiring students to learn from home. Teachers need to respond to this policy by designing online learning that is relevant and meaningful.Vocabulary learning is one of the fundamental aspectsin English learning, but it offers various challenges. Rivet app is an application presented by Google as a medium for students to learn English,especially for vocabulary enrichment duringthe study-from-home policy. This final project focuses on exploring students’ perspectiveson the use of Rivet application for their vocabulary learning. This research aims (1) to find out how toimplement the Rivet app to increase theEnglish vocabulary of eight grade studentsin SMP Negeri 41 Semarang;and (2) to find out the students’ perception after using Rivet app about the differences in learning vocabulary during learning from home.This researchused qualitative descriptive research with a questionnaire and interview as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that students have positive perception on the use of the Rivet app because they experience vocabulary increase after using the app. The writer suggests teachers to explore more language-related app to teach English, such as Rivet, as they are useful and meaningful for students’ learning.
