Abstract

A lesson plan is not merely an important document as administrative requirement before teaching, rather it aims to guide the entire learning session to achieve learning outcomes. However, there are still many teachers develop the lesson plan without put the completed components as expressed in the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Cultural No.22 year 2016. As we know, in a modern era, both teachers and students should prepare for a more complex life and work environments within the 21st -century and the better future. As a consequence, teachers are challenged to integrate the critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and literacy skills into the lesson plan. On the other hand, some teachers still have not integrated 21st -century skills yet into their lesson plan. This study aims to analyze how the teachers integrate the 21st -century skills into the lesson plans. The Partnership for 21st -century skills (2009) is used as the framework to evaluate the lesson plan components in integrating 21st - century skills. A descriptive qualitative approach is used in this study through document review and questionnaire. Twelve lesson plans by two pre-service teachers, two novice teachers, and two experienced teachers as the data. The findings show that experienced teachers are more complex in developing the lesson plans, especially in integrating 21st -century skills. Pre-service teachers required to improve their skills in developing the lesson plan and integrating 21st - century skills clearly in the learning activities. Meanwhile, novice teachers have been good in integrating 21st-century skills into lesson plans. They are just need to improve their skills in developing the assessment components and integrate 21st -century skills in it. At least most of the teachers were utilized the scientific learning, technology, and facilities from school to support the expansion of the 21st -century skills for students.
