Abstract

Pronunciation is one of the important skills that must be mastered by English learners. One of the methods in learning pronunciation is using dictionary. There are some kinds of dictionaries and one of them is online dictionary. The advantages of using online dictionary are less time-consuming and portable. This study aims to show the students’ perceptions of online dictionary usage and to find out the relationship between students’ perceptions of online dictionary usage and pronunciation learning. In this study, the data were taken from 65 students of the English Department Universitas Negeri Semarang at seventh semester in the academic year 2020/2021. To analyze the data, the researcher used a descriptive quantitative with cross sectional approach. In descriptive quantitative research, the researcher attempts to describe the problem and phenomenon by explaining the result in details. Based on the chi square result, it was obtained the relationship between the perceptions of using online dictionary as a measurement (p= 0.00), effectiveness (p= 0.04), efficiency (p= 0.00), and interest (p= 0.00). The conclusion, there is a relationship between students’ perceptions of online dictionary usage and pronunciation learning.
