The participant of this study was 13 students of the tenth grade of SMA N 1 Semarang. The instrument was the descriptive texts written by the students. The students‘ descriptive texts were used as the source of the data collection. In analyzing the data, the theory of transitivity by Halliday‘s Systemic Functional Grammar was used. Based on the data analysis, it is found that the students mainly used the Relational and Material processes. Moreover, the process of Mental, Existential, and Verbal are also found in the texts. It is followed by the frequent occurrence of the participants of Relational and Material Processes, which are Token, Value, Carrier, Attribute, Actor, and Goal. This research found the frequent use of the Circumstance of Place and Time, besides the other circumstance types, in the descriptive texts. The findings are in line with the lexicogrammatical features of the descriptive texts formularized by Gerot and Wignell, as well as Knapp and Watkins.
