Abstract
The interest in becoming a teacher is a passion to encourage a person to try to undergo the teaching profession in order to become a professional teacher. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of perceptions of the teaching profession and learning motivation through learning achievement as an intervening variabel to the generation 2016 students of the Economy Department, Faculty of Economy, UNNES. The population in this study were 326 students of Economy Education. The sampling technique used was proportionate random sampling, with the result that the number of sample used was 177 students. The dependent variabel in this study was the interest to be a teacher (Y), while the independent variabels include the perception of the teaching profession (X1) and motivation to learn (X2), and learning achievement as an intervening variabel (X3). The method of collecting data was using a questionnaire. Data analysis methods used include descriptive analysis and path analysis. The results of this study indicated that, based on descriptive statistical analysis, the variabels of interest in being a teacher are sufficient while the variabel perception of the teaching profession, learning motivation, and learning achievement are categorized as high. The results showed a positive and significant influence on the perception of the teaching profession, learning motivation, and learning achievement on the interests of becoming a teacher, so that learning achievement can indirectly affect perceptions of the teaching profession and motivation to learn towards interest in becoming a teacher. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the perception of the teaching profession, learning motivation, and learning achievement have a positive and significant impact on the interest in becoming a teacher. The learning achievement variabel can mediate perceptions of the teaching profession and motivation to learn about interest in becoming a teacher, but the contribution of academic achievement and perception of the teaching profession is low. The advice given is that students should increase their motivation to learn, so that their learning achievement and interest in becoming teachers increase.
