Abstract

Semarang City has a dengue fever incidence rate of 6.17 per 100,000 population in 2018. The percentage of Case Fatality Rate in Semarang City is 0.97%, with the highest age group for dengue fever sufferers in Semarang City in 2018 were under five and school age groups (1- 14 years). This study aims to determine how vitamins A, C and D as nutrients are related to the severity of DHF in the city of Semarang. The design of this study was case control. The sample in this study were 46 cases and 46 controls. Sampling using nonprobability sampling technique with convenience method. The instrument in this study were the Food Frequency Questionnaire, and sun exposure questionnaire. The data were converted in the Nutrisurvey device and then analyzed using the chi square test and multivariable test using SPSS version 16. The results showed that the intake of vitamin C (OR = 2,917; CI = 1,197-7,109) and intake of vitamin D (OR = 5,428; CI = 2,198-13,405) were associated with the severity of DHF among children aged 1-14 years. Suggestions from this study are that parents can pay attention and provide children with balanced and sufficient nutritional intake so that the child's immune system is always in good condition, especially to prevent and save children from dengue.
