Abstract

Efforts to improve teacher performance continue to be carried out by the government through the Teacher Competency Test (UKG), but the results achieved have not been optimal. The problem that arises is the competency of the teacher. This study aims to support the role of principal transformational leadership in moderating the influence of teacher competencies on the performance of accounting teachers. This type of research is quantitative. The study design used a questionnaire survey as an instrument for collecting data. The population in the study were accounting teachers at the SMK Accounting and Financial Skills Program in the City of Semarang totaling 74 accounting teachers. The total sample of 74 accounting teachers. The sampling technique uses saturated samples. Data collection techniques using questionnaire. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistic and moderated regression analysis. Descriptive analysis shows that teacher performance, pedagogical competence, personal competence are in the very high category and professional competence, social competence anda principal transformational leadership are in the hight category. The results showed that professional competence, pedagogical competence, personal competence and social competence had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. The moderation test shows that principal transformational leadership significantly strengthens the influence of pedagogical competence on teacher performance, principal transformational leadership is not able to moderate the effect of professional competence on teacher performance, principal transformational leadership is not able to moderate the effect of personality competence on teacher performance, and principal transformational leadership is not able to moderate the effect of social competence on teacher performance. Based on these results, it can be concluded that (1) professional competence, pedagogical competence, personality competence, social competence have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (2) principal transformational leadership strengthens the influence of pedagogical competence on teacher performance (3) Principal transformational leadership is not able to moderate the effect of professional competence, personal competence and social competence on teacher performance. Suggestions from researchers is that implementation transformational leadership to school principals needs to be maximized in all aspects of school life
