Abstract

Based on the preliminary study, it is known that the archive management system used in SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Jepara is still conventional system, which still has many weaknesses. The purpose of this study is to develop an electronic archive system based on Microsoft Foxpro as a substitution for an archive management system from conventional to technology based at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Mayong Jepara. The research approach and design used in this study is a research and development (R&D) method. The development design used in this study is the R&D model by Sugiyono by taking six stages. Data analysis uses descriptive percentage analysis The results of this study are: (1) identification of potential and problems: archival management is still conventional which is considered ineffective and inefficient and still has many obstacles; (2) data collection: the data used include software and hardware; (3) product design, product design specifications include user determination, media, main features, and system support equipment; (4) design validation: validation by material experts and media experts shows that the developed media is considered to be very decent with an overall average score of 86%; (5) design revision: the results of the assessment and suggestions are included as consideration for the revision of the existing design; (6) product trials: the results of the trial use of respondents with a percentage of 97% with very decent criteria. In conclusion of this study, it can be assessed that the electronic archive application is very feasible to be used at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Mayong Jepara. Suggestions from this research: (1) adding features of automatic archive destruction which carried out periodically; (2) adding an archive borrowing sheet function which can be automatically generated; (3) so that there will be no excessive display, the display of incoming and outgoing letters is better to be merged; (4) Betterment of the layout settings; (5) the need for an application manual; (6) the physical arrangement of records is carried aut according to the correct to the correct record management produres.
