English Department, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Semarang. Advisor : Prof. Dr. Jan Mujiyanto, M. Hum. Keywords : Idiom, English Idiomatic Expressions, Verbal Messages, Visual Messages, Subtitling idioms accuracy; Frozen. Nowadays, idiomatic expressions are very prolific in the film because the idioms can enhance diction in the film. The objectives of the study are (1) to relate between Frozen’s subtitle of English Idiomatic Expressions and the visual image, (2) to relate between Frozen’s subtitle of English Idiomatic Expressions and the audio image, and (3) to assess the accuracy of the subtitling idioms. The study was a descriptive qualitative study. The data were collected by using Adam Makkai’s idiom classifications. The data of this study are in the structure of sentences containing English Idiomatic Expressions. From the process of collecting data, a list of 75 conversation lines containing idiomatic expressions has been made. For the analyzing data, Audiovisual Translation : Subtitling mentioned by Diaz Cintas (2007) are used. The last for the accuracy of subtitling idioms uses Nababan’s theory. In the end, the result of relation between Frozen’s subtitle of English Idiomatic Expressions and the visual image as well as the audio image showed that 72 data are mostly able to be related and 3 data are unable to be related. In addition, for the result of subtitling’s accuracy showed that 94.95% of the data are mostly accurate. A further research is recommended to have good knowledge of idioms and how to relate them into verbal and visual messages.
