Abstract

Education has a very important role in a nation and country, because it can improve the quality of human resources. Noted that the undergraduate unemployment rate increased, amounted 5.57 million in 2017 and 5.92 million in 2018. This resulted in obstacles to the nation's growth. The purpose of this study wass to determine the effect of education cost perception, parents' economic condition, peer environment, self efficacy, and indirect effects of education cost perception, parents' economic condition, peer environment through self efficacy on the interest in continuing S2. The research type is quantitative research. The population was 107 students batch 2016 of accounting education at Faculty of Economics Unnes. The sample used a saturated sample with a total of 107 students. Data collection techniques used a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used descriptive statistical analysis and path analysis. Descriptive analysis results show that interest in continuing S2 in the high category, education cost perception in quite high category, parents' economic condition in the medium category, peer environment in the support category, self efficacy in the high category. The results of this study indicate that partially, interest in continuing S2 is influenced by education cost perception (7.78%), parents' economic condition (4.12%), peer environment (0.09%) and self efficacy (11.35 %). While self efficacy is influenced by parents' economic condition (27.14%) and peer environment (30.47%). While the education cost perception does not directly affect self efficacy (0.36%). The conclusion in this research indicates that the education cost perception, parents' economic condition, peer environment, and self efficacy directly or indirectly influence in continuing S2. The advice of the research is that students are expected to increase their interest in continuing S2 and actively search for information about the scholarships and the desired education majors. Students are also advised to further enhance self-confidence with their potential, both academic and non-academic potential.
