Abstract

One of the translation literary work goals is to transfer the information from the source text into the target text so that it can be acceptable to the reader. The differences in language and culture create difficulties in translating literary works, especially in Indonesian translation. This study analyzed the accuracy of phrasal verbs from English to Indonesian in The Hunger Games novel. The objectives of the study were to identify the translation strategies of idiom used and to analyze the accuracy of phrasal verbs from English to Indonesian. This study was qualitative. The data analysis was done by comparing the original novel and the Indonesian novel. The result of the study showed 572 data of phrasal verbs. The strategies employed by the translator to translate phrasal verbs: using an idiom similar meaning and dissimilar form, using an idiom similar meaning and form, translation by paraphrase, and the last translation by omission. The analysis translation accuracy level is given by three expert raters. The translations of phrasal verbs in Indonesian translated novel were delivered into accurate translation. Further research is suggested to involve more than three expert raters to know more accurate findings. Furthermore, other objects are possible such as movies, short stories, and comics.
