Abstract
This article tries to make clarification about the meaning and significance of literature in Arabic, Indonesian, and English. Besides discussing of literature, it tries to describe how to use CTL and CDA in teaching literatures and also clarifies the main function of teaching literature. By doing of this model, teaching learning literature is not only focusing on theoritical teaching but also contextual and actual teaching. This model is the one of the best strategy in teaching learning process. As one of the strategy, CTL and CDA model can be used to teach prose, poetry, prose, and drama in formal institution. ln employng of CTL anil CDA model generally, the teacher can make preparation three steps. They are (1) searching (2) interpreting (3) re-creating. In employing of this model in formal institution, the teacher should consider the source of the material based on language, students psycology, and background of the students.
