Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of family education and financial socialization on Islamic financial literacy with religiosity as a mediation variable. The population of this study are students of State Madrasah Aliyah on Semarang City who have received financial services materials. The numbers of samples in this study as many as 205 students taken with proportional random sampling technique. Data collection method used is questionnaire. Methods of data analysis using descriptive analysis techniques and structural equation models. The results showed that family education has an influence on religiosity and Islamic financial literacy; financial socialization has an influence on religiosity and Islamic financial literacy as well as religiosity able to mediate family education and financial socialization toward Islamic financial literacy. Suggestions given related to the results of this study are: activities related to financial socialization should be prioritized to form Islamic financial literacy such as with the holding of discussion activities with peers, the procurement of media such as books or magazines. Family education needs to be improved to maximize Islamic financial literacy, this is due to the education of the family as the main educational environment for an individual and the results of research indicate that the coefficient of family education is not greater than the coefficient of other variables.
