Abstract

This study attempted to analyse modulation procedure types which were used on the translation process of ―The Maze Runner‖ novel written by James Dahner. The objectives of this study are to describe the use of modulation types used in ―The Maze Runner‖ novel in Indonesian version and to describe the accuracy of the message of the source text in the target text. This study was conducted qualitatively. This study applied the theory proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet (1988: 88) about the types of modulation procedure and the accuracy criteria of translation assessment by Nababan (2012: 44-45). The result of the study showed that there were 110 data using modulation procedure. Based on the analysis, the most prominent type is part another part modulation type with 37 data occurrence (33.6%) and the least prominent type is interval for limit modulation type with only one data occurrence (0.9%). In terms of accuracy, three raters found that around 92.1% of the data were translated accurately with accuracy score is 912, meanwhile the rest 1.8% of the data were inaccurately translated with accuracy score is 18.
