Abstract

This research aims are to determine the effectiveness of science learning media based on multicultural education with inquiry to develop character and critical thinking skills. The design of this research is quasi-experimental design, nonequivalent control group design. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique, obtained VII A as the experimental class and VII B as the control class. The data collection used observation, documentation and test. The research data was obtained from the value pretest-posttest of students which prepared based on five items of the critical thinking skill and characters development acquired through ten items. The result showed increasing characters of students and t-test result showed the average of experimental class result higher than control class. N-gain and t-test showed the items of critical thinking skill increase significantly and t-test result showed the average of experimental class result higher than control class. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the science learning media based on multicultural education with inquiry can increase character and critical thinking skill of students.
