Abstract

Kampung Arab as one of the designation places in Mulyoharjo Village Pemalang District called Kampung Arab because it is a population of Arab descent. Arab descendants who settled in Kampung Arab survived by producing furniture until culinary. Kamir who became the culinary of the Arab Village and became a community culinary icon Pemalang District. Kamir as a traditional snack is made from flour dough, butter, and eggs. Kamir as a result of the culture of the people of Arab descent and descendants of Java. The objectives of this research are (1) To explain kajir snacks to the identity of Kampung Arab in Pemalang, (2) To know the typical kamir of Kampung Arab as symbol of acculturation of Javanese and Arabic, (3) To explain Arab village community actualize kamir as Javanese and Arab acculturation form. This research uses Qualitative Research Method. Research location of Kampung Arab Jalan Semeru Pemalang Regency. Subjects in this study are Arab Kampung Society both Arab descendants and descendants of Java. Informants in this study were Arab Village Producers, Arabs and Javanese descendants. Informant in this research is Technique of collecting research data by using observation, interview, and documentation. The validity of this research includes: data collection, data reduction, data presentation and decision making or validation. This research uses Koentjaraningrat Acculturation Concept and Social Identity Theory of Henri Tajfel. The results of this study show (1)Kamir Snack can be found in Kampung Arab Mulyoharjo urban village and to date kamir snack as identity of Kampung Arab, (2) Kamir as symbol of acculturation of Javanese and Arab culture that is when society of Kampung Arab held slametan event, Weddings, traditional ceremonies and entertaining guests of kamir snacks must be in the event, (3) Snack Kamir must be in the community of Arab villages such as kamir producers located in Kampung Arab do the way to stay actual in the modern era such as making various flavors kamir and kamir enter the store Bread and department store in Pemalang city. Addressed for kamir producer : maintaining kamir identity as icon of Kampung Arab society and as typical snack of Pemalang Regency. Addressed for Pemalang Government to improve kamir existence in modern era that more and more modern snacks in Regency Pemalang. It is expected that the Government will pay more attention to the traditional snacks.
