Abstract

Asma Bronkial adalah suatu kelainan yang berupa inflamasi kronik saluran pernapasan yang menyebabkan hiperaktivitas bronkus terhadap rangsangan yang ditandai dengan mengi, batuk, sesak napas pada malam maupun dini hari. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang terapi slow deep breathing terhadap tingkat kontrol asma. Jenis penelitian adalah quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan cara purposive sampling yaitu sebanyak 30 responden. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara selisih skor pretest dan posttest ACT (p=0,001), nilai APE (p=0,004), variasi harian APE (p=0,005), efek samping obat (p=0,010), dan kunjungan ke UGD (p=0,038) antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terapi napas slow deep breathing efektif untuk meningkatkan tingkat kontrol asma pada penderita asma bronkial persisten sedang di Balai Kesehatan Paru Masyarakat Wilayah Semarang. Bronchial asthma is a abnormality such as inflammatory chronic hyperactivity of airways that causes the bronchi to stimuli characterized by wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath at night and early morning. This study examines the slow deep breathing therapy on the level of asthma control. This research used a quasy experimental study design with nonequivalent control group. Samples were selected by purposive sampling techniqiue as many as 30 respondents. The result showed that there is a significant differences between the difference score pretest and posttest ACT (p= 0.001), the value of APE (p = 0.004), daily variation APE (p=0.005), side effects of medications (p=0.010), and a visit to emergency unit (p=0.038) between the experimental group and the control group. The research conclusion is the breath therapy slow deep breathing is effective to control the level of bronchial asthma in patients with moderate persistent bronchial asthma in Region Public Health Center Lung Semarang.
