Foreign Languages and Literature Department, Faculty of Language and Art, State University of Semarang. Supervisor: Ai SumirahSetiawati, S. Pd, M. Pd. Keywords: error analysis, the Tenkan no setsuzokushi, causes error Speak error often occurs when learners learn a foreign language. This is because the learners need to adjust the mindset of the mother tongue into a foreign language being studied (in this case the Japanese). Language errors were found in the Japanese language such as the use of the Tenkan no setsuzokushi (conjunctions modifiers topic). The author conductedresearch on Japanese language education2012students‟class to find out what is the causes of the error and misuse of the Tenkan no setsuzokushi. The students of Japanese language education 2012 students of UNNES as the population inside the research is 62 students, with a sample of 30 students using random sampling method. The Data is collected by using written tests and questionnaires open. The data analysis techniques with (1) data collection, (2) calculate the percentage of each item on, (3) interpretation, (4) data analysis. The results of the research showed that the main factor that caused the error in learning is the understanding of the leraning as the secons language. The error rate of using the Tenkan no setsuzokushi was 52.2% in medium category. Thehighest error rate is the use of the material sate with persentase18,7%. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the influence the understanding of the leraningleads to misapplication of the Tenkan no setsuzokushi. The advice that given from this study are expected in the Japanese language learners can understand the meaning and use of vocabulary, conjunctions, and the pattern of the appropriate sentence.
